TEJ PRATAP SHIFTED TO HOSPITAL WARD FOR CHEST PAIN

PATNA-----------------------Tej Pratap Yadav, who had come out in support of a student protest, has been sent to Beur Jail under 14-day judicial custody. His party, the JJD, has termed the arrest unconstitutional and demanded his immediate release and the withdrawal of the case.

Patna: Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav was sent to jail on charges of attempting to enforce a 'Bihar Bandh' (shutdown) called by student organizations regarding the NEET question paper leak case. Tej Pratap Yadav has refused to eat while in jail. Meanwhile, he has been shifted to the hospital ward following complaints of chest pain.

According to media reports, following his arrest late Saturday evening, the police took Tej Pratap Yadav to Adarsh ​​Central Jail, Beur. Due to complaints of chest pain, he has been lodged in the jail's hospital ward instead of the general barracks. His health is being constantly monitored, and all prescribed security protocols are being followed.

A bail plea on behalf of Tej Pratap Yadav is set to be filed on Monday. Tej Pratap's lawyer, Jagannath Singh, questioned the arrest, stating that there were several irregularities involved. Leaders of the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) also alleged that false cases are being registered to suppress voices raised in support of students' demands. Staging a peaceful protest and raising one's voice in support of students is the constitutional right of every citizen and public representative—a right that cannot be suppressed through police action.

Tej Pratap's lawyer, Jagannath Singh, stated that the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief was sent to Beur Central Jail, located on the city's outskirts, after a magistrate remanded him to judicial custody. He pointed out the discrepancy that while Tej Pratap was arrested from a Patna mall at 7:30 PM on Saturday, the FIR at the concerned police station was registered only around 12:15 AM on Sunday. He will file a bail plea in the competent court on Monday.

Following Tej Pratap Yadav's arrest, his sister Rohini Acharya, who resides in Singapore, has also come out in his support. Strongly condemning the move, she alleged in a post on 'X' that her brother's arrest based on "baseless and false charges" amounts to "tyranny by the Samrat Chaudhary government." She questioned whether supporting youths who are demanding a better education system constitutes a crime.
