ARA---------------------------Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) has been a focal point of the dispute between India and Pakistan for decades. This region is significant not only geographically but also holds strategic, cultural, and economic importance for both nations. In recent months, large-scale protests have erupted in various cities across PoK against inflation, power shortages, unemployment, and the policies of the local administration. These protests have once again drawn the global community's attention to the question of whether the people of PoK are dissatisfied with Pakistani rule. India has consistently maintained that the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir, including PoK, is an integral part of India. However, the current reality is that Pakistan exercises administrative control over this region. In this context, finding a resolution to this issue without military confrontation becomes crucial for international diplomacy and regional stability.

Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is once again at the center of discussion. Persistent protests are taking place there against inflation, the power crisis, unemployment, and administrative policies. Amidst these events, it is natural to ask whether India can establish control over PoK without military action.

India’s official and long-standing stance is clear: the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir, including PoK, is an integral part of India. On the other hand, the actual administration of PoK currently lies with Pakistan. Consequently, the question of any change involves not merely political will but also international law, bilateral relations, local public sentiment, and broader geopolitical circumstances.

The possibility of a solution without military action is viewed primarily through five lenses. First, setting a positive example through rapid development in Jammu and Kashmir, thereby highlighting the contrast in governance and development for those living across the border. Second, building trust through democratic values, good governance, and civic amenities. .strengthening the environment. Third, continuously reinforcing its diplomatic position on international platforms; India’s active participation in forums like the United Nations serves as an example of this. Fourth, fostering trust among the people while maintaining peace and stability in border areas. And fifth, should circumstances change in the future, the foundation of any resolution must be the will of the local people and a peaceful process.

In recent years, several senior leaders of the Indian government have stated that PoK will one day become part of India. At the same time, the government has clarified that its priorities are development, diplomacy, and the protection of national interests. However, it is important to note that such political remarks reflect future possibilities rather than a specific timeline or a predetermined plan.

The reality is that the issue of PoK is extremely sensitive and complex. There is no quick or simple solution to it. Regional stability, India-Pakistan relations, international circumstances, and the situation of the people living there—all these factors will determine the future course of events.

War should be the last resort for any country. If circumstances change through development, democracy, diplomacy, and peaceful dialogue, it will yield more enduring and positive outcomes not only for India and Pakistan but for all of South Asia. This is precisely what the priority of any responsible democracy should be.

Ultimately, it can be said that a resolution regarding PoK will emerge not from a single event or decision, but through a long and multifaceted process. India’s policy is clear: lasting peace can be established only by following the path of development, democracy, and diplomacy. The international community also acknowledges that dialogue and confidence-building between India and Pakistan are essential for stability in South Asia. The aspirations of the people of PoK cannot be ignored. Steps taken for their betterment—whether through cross-border trade or cultural exchanges—will lay the foundation for trust. India has always advocated for a peaceful resolution, and its priority in the future will remain dialogue and development, not war. As a responsible nuclear power, it is India's obligation to maintain an atmosphere of peace in the region.
