DRAINAGE OPERATIONS BEGINS USING LIFTERS

ARA-----------------------Hope for relief has emerged for residents of Suraudha Colony in Koilwar Nagar Panchayat, who have been grappling with waterlogging issues for years. The administration has finally taken the initiative to commence drainage operations in the troubled area. This action was initiated at the behest of Chief Councilor Sartaj Alam, bringing cheer to the local community.

It is reported that arrangements to drain the waterlogged area were finalized following a meeting with Municipal Executive Officer Shahab Yahya. Under this initiative, a motor-operated lifter is being used to pump the accumulated water to another location, aiming to gradually clear the entire area of ​​water.

Chief Councilor Sartaj Alam stated that the volume of water in the area is substantial. Consequently, the drainage operation is being carried out by mounting a motor-operated lifter onto a boat. This method was adopted because the water accumulation in several spots was so deep that conventional drainage methods were proving difficult.

He added that complete drainage would take time due to continuous rainfall and the ongoing inflow of water from drains. It is estimated that the process could take over a month to complete. For now, this arrangement is temporary, intended to provide immediate relief to the residents.

The Chief Councilor mentioned that steps toward a permanent solution have also been initiated. Proposals have been drafted for the construction of concrete drains and the installation of a water treatment plant in the area. Under this plan, wastewater will be treated before being discharged into the river.

The Nagar Panchayat has sent letters regarding this matter to the local MLA and relevant departments. There is optimism that the plan will soon receive approval, paving the way for a permanent solution for the colony.

Relief is already visible on the faces of local residents as the drainage work gets underway. Those who have endured years of waterlogging have welcomed this initiative. Many residents—including Sanju Devi, Rinki Devi, Rajkumari Devi, Munni Devi, Rinku Devi, Ruby Devi, Sadhu Paswan, and Tuntun Yadav—expressed that the drainage of the stagnant, dirty water would bring immense relief.

Locals state that eliminating waterlogging will reduce the mosquito menace and lower the risk posed by venomous creatures. Furthermore, this measure will prove beneficial for the well-being of children and the elderly.

While the administration is currently attempting to provide relief through temporary measures, everyone is now looking forward to a permanent solution. If the plans for drain construction and a water treatment plant are implemented soon, the residents of Suraudha Colony could be permanently freed from this long-standing issue. The administration states that efforts in this direction are proceeding rapidly, and concrete results are expected soon.
