India–Japan Seminar Gives New Momentum to Workforce Cooperation
Tokyo (RNI) : Ms. Vandana Gurnani, Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, said on Monday that India’s demographic strength, robust skill development system, and institutional reforms position the country as a reliable source of skilled human resources for global economies, including Japan.
According to an official press release, Ms. Gurnani was addressing a seminar jointly organized by the Embassy of India in Tokyo and Japan’s ASEAN One Co. Ltd. She elaborated on India’s comprehensive workforce preparedness framework, supported by higher educational institutions, industrial training institutes, apprenticeship programmes, digital skill development platforms, and career services.
She also highlighted India’s framework for international labour mobility, which includes the Ministry of External Affairs’ ‘e-Migrate’ platform, the National Career Service portal, Model Career Centres, and a broad skill development ecosystem involving the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, state governments, and educational institutions.
The Labour Secretary emphasized the need to strengthen India–Japan cooperation in areas such as Japanese language training, sector-specific skill development, testing infrastructure, skill mapping, occupational alignment, structured demand aggregation, ethical recruitment practices, and institutional collaboration. She reiterated the Government of India’s commitment to creating transparent, ethical, and inclusive pathways for international labour mobility.
Around 250 representatives from leading Japanese companies, including senior executives and human resource managers, participated in the seminar and discussed the potential for structured engagement with India’s skilled workforce ecosystem. L.S.
