BHABHUA-----------------------The building housing the power sub-station on Durgawati Station Road has become completely dilapidated. Late Wednesday night, a wall of the building suddenly collapsed, raising serious concerns about the structural integrity of the entire edifice. Employees warn that a major accident could occur at any moment if timely repairs are not carried out or a new building is not provided.

This sub-station supplies electricity to approximately 35 villages—via the Durgawati Bazaar, Chogda, and Pipariya feeders—as well as to the Block Office, the Community Health Centre (CHC), and the Durgawati Police Station. Due to the building's precarious condition, employees fear working inside and are compelled to perform their duties from a makeshift tent.

It is reported that the matter regarding the construction of a new building ..has been stalled for a long time. The matter concerning the land on which the substation operates is currently pending in court. Consequently, the company management is withholding permission for new construction, and the department is unable to take any concrete steps.

Upon receiving news of the incident, local MLA Satish Yadav (Chintu), the Circle Officer, and Electricity Department officials arrived at the site to assess the situation. The MLA apprised the CMD of the Electricity Department and the District Magistrate of Kaimur about the circumstances. Currently, plans are underway to temporarily repair the collapsed wall and support the roof—with the company management's consent—to ensure that the power supply remains uninterrupted.

Local residents have urged the administration and the Electricity Department to find a permanent solution quickly and take effective measures toward constructing a new building. They warn that without timely action, the safety of employees and the electricity supply for thousands of consumers could face a serious crisis.
