BUXAR ADMINISTRATION ON ALERT FOR SHRAVANI MELA

BUXAR------------------------To ensure the safety of devotees and maintain law and order during the Shravani Mela-2026, District Magistrate Sahila and Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya held a joint briefing on Thursday at the Baba Brahmeshwar Nath Temple complex with magistrates, police officers, and police personnel. Officials were instructed to perform their duties with utmost vigilance on every Sunday and Monday between July 30 and August 28, as well as on August 11 (Shivratri).

The DM and SP directed Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) to tour their respective areas and ensure that all deputed magistrates, police officers, and police personnel are present at their duty stations on time. Instructions were issued to set up mini-control rooms at Ramrekha Ghat (Buxar) and Mahadeva Ghat (Chausa), install rope barricades at the ghats up to the safe water level, and arrange for crowd management with the help of volunteers.

Directives were also issued for the deployment of plain-clothes male and female police personnel in crowded areas, the positioning of Quick Response Teams (QRTs) at major temples and ghats, and continuous police patrolling in the Buxar and Dumraon subdivisions. Baba Brahmeshwar Nath Temple, Ramrekha Ghat, and Gaurishankar Temple (Sohni Patti) will be kept under special surveillance.

Special instructions have also been issued regarding traffic arrangements during the Shravani Mela. Heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering Buxar town during designated hours on Sundays and Mondays. Additionally, the entry of four-wheelers and two-wheelers will be restricted on the route from Veer Kunwar Singh Chowk via Ramrekha Ghat Turn to Alka Cinema. Instructions have been given to ensure proper arrangements for barricading, drop gates, control rooms, parking, and crowd control in Brahmpur.

Urban local bodies have been directed to ensure cleanliness at temples, Ganga ghats, and places of worship; provide temporary toilets, changing rooms for women, and other basic amenities; and ensure that all CCTV cameras remain functional. The Health Department has been instructed to keep medical teams, ambulances, life-saving medicines, oxygen supplies, anti-snake venom, and operating theaters ready round-the-clock across all hospitals and health centers. The Electricity Department has been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply and the repair of loose electrical wiring.

To ensure security arrangements for the Shravani Mela, the administration has deployed magistrates, police officers, and police personnel at a total of 174 locations. These include 110 static posts, 10 foot patrol teams, 4 parking sites, 8 barricading points, 9 control rooms, 22 drop gates, and 11 patrol squads. The administration has also issued instructions to monitor social media for rumors and to take immediate action if necessary.
