ARA-------------------------An inspiring workshop focused on hygiene, health, and skill development was organized for students of the 'Alka Sewing and Study Centre'—run by the organization 'Nayi Asha'—at the Gidha Community Hall in the Koilwar block of Bhojpur district. The program aimed to raise awareness among the students regarding personal hygiene, social responsibility, self-reliance, and self-employment. Training in the art of Mehendi was also provided during the workshop.
Addressing the students as the lead trainer, Sabita Prasad—a renowned beautician and hairdresser from Arrah—stated that hygiene is the cornerstone of a healthy, dignified, and successful life. She emphasized that every individual bears the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness not only for themselves but also for their families and their surroundings. She noted that a pleasing personality is developed not through expensive cosmetics, but through regular bathing, clean clothing, a disciplined lifestyle, and a clean environment. Individuals who practice good hygiene remain protected from various infectious diseases and establish a positive identity within society.
Highlighting the importance of skill-based training for achieving self-reliance, Mrs. Prasad remarked that poverty should not be viewed as a weakness; rather, it should serve as an inspiration to identify opportunities and move forward. In today's world, anyone can strengthen their family's financial position by acquiring a vocational skill and securing dignified employment or self-employment. Referring to traditional Indian knowledge, she mentioned how people formerly used natural resources—such as black soil, clay, and *Multani mitti* (Fuller's earth)—for skin and hair care. She noted that these traditional methods have now gained global popularity as 'clay therapy,' 'mud baths,' and 'detox therapy'—services for which people spend significant amounts of money. She also elaborated on the scientific and health-promoting uses of natural resources.
