TWO SMUGGLERS WITH 49.821 KG OF GANJA ARRESTED

BUXAR-----------------------------In a major crackdown on narcotics smuggling, the Rajpur police arrested two smugglers with 49.821 kilograms of cannabis on Sunday night. The arrest took place during a vehicle-checking drive near Basahi Bridge on the Buxar-Kochas main road. The police also seized two motorcycles used in the smuggling operation.

 Rajpur Station House Officer (SHO) Niwas Kumar stated that they had received a tip-off indicating that two individuals were planning to transport a large quantity of cannabis on motorcycles towards Rohtas district. Following the verification of this information, an intensive vehicle-checking drive was launched near Basahi Bridge. During the operation, two suspicious motorcyclists attempted to flee upon seeing the police; however, the police team acted swiftly, cornered them, and made the arrests.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Chandrashekhar Kumar (son of Ashok Ram), a resident of Rampur village under the Rajpur police station area, and Krishna Thakur, alias Raju (son of Lalan Thakur), a resident of Gangauli village under the Simri police station area. A total of 49.821 kilograms of cannabis was recovered from them during the search. The police seized the recovered cannabis and took the two motorcycles into custody.

The SHO stated that an FIR has been registered against both accused under the NDPS Act. Interrogation is underway to determine the source of the cannabis consignment and the intended recipient in Rohtas. Raids are currently being conducted to identify and arrest other individuals linked to the smuggling network. Describing this as a major success in the fight against narcotics smuggling, the Rajpur police stated that the campaign against the drug trade in the area would continue unabated and that no one involved in it would be spared.
