BUXAR-------------------------A tribute meeting was organized on Sunday in the Laxman Vihar area under the aegis of the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Foundation to mark the birth anniversary of Mangal Pandey, a great revolutionary of the First War of Independence. During the event, office-bearers of the organization and social activists paid heartfelt tributes by offering flowers at Mangal Pandey's portrait and recalled his patriotism and sacrifice.

Presiding over the program, the organization's president, Rajesh Patel, stated that Mangal Pandey was an immortal warrior of the Indian freedom struggle who was the first to sound the bugle of rebellion against British rule. He noted that Mangal Pandey was born on July 19, 1827, in the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. Despite serving in the British Army, a strong sense of patriotism burned within him. In 1857, he initiated the revolution against the British, which subsequently evolved into the First War of Independence.

He remarked that although the British subjected Mangal Pandey and his comrades to numerous atrocities, he never wavered from his resolve. Ultimately, the British government executed him by hanging on April 8, 1857. His sacrifice became a source of inspiration for the Indian freedom movement and played a pivotal role in igniting the flame of liberty across the nation.

Attendees at the event observed that Mangal Pandey's self-sacrifice, courage, and patriotism remain a source of inspiration for the country's citizens today. They emphasized that the dream of nation-building can only be realized by embracing his ideals. Members of the organization—including Gaurav, Munna Ansari, Ashiya, Rahul Raj, Rahul Dahiya, Deepak Sangwan, and Vikas (Vicky)—along with several prominent local citizens, were present on this occasion.
