SASARAM---------------------------Late last evening, a road accident near Bartali village on the Shivsagar-Chenari main road in the district resulted in the death of one person and left another critically injured. Villagers held the construction company responsible for the Bharatमाला Expressway—along with its contractor—accountable for the accident. Recounting the incident, villagers stated that late Friday evening, near Bartali within the Chenari police station limits, a motorcycle went out of control and plunged into a pit dug for the road being constructed by the Bharatमाला Expressway company; the crash left both riders critically injured. With the help of villagers, the injured individuals were pulled from the pit and rushed to a hospital, where one of the young men succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Leveling direct allegations against the construction company and its contractor, the villagers asserted that several factors—including soil erosion adjacent to the main road, excessive dust, the absence of barricades, and the lack of reflective signage to aid visibility at night—were the primary causes contributing to this road accident. They urged the district administration to intervene and rein in the company to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future, particularly within the road construction zones along this route.
