MARRIED WOMAN MURDERED MERELY FOR A MOTORCYCLE IN DOWRY

ARA------------------------A married woman was hanged to death in the morning today at Sakkadi village under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district merely for a bullet motorcycle in dowry. Black-blue mark has been found on the neck below the ear including the neck on the left side of the body and black-blue mark has also been found on the right side of the neck. The maternal family of the deceased accused the in-laws of hanging her to death. The deceased was identified as Sita Devi 26 wife of Kamendra Yadav of Ward No 7 of Sakkadi village. Her husband lives in Hyderabad and works in a private job. She has a one-year-old son Maurya Raj.

Rohit Kumar, maternal cousin of the deceased said that five years ago, both of them came in contact at the relative’s place in Sakkadi village and gradually they fell in love. In 2021, they tied nuptial knot in a temple at Pavana village. After a year of marriage, her in-laws demanded a bullet motorcycle and money in dowry and so one lakh rupees were givento her in-laws a year ago and then everything was fine.

A few days ago, she had some quarrel with her hasband and mother-in-law. The called her brother Arun on Tuesday at about 2pm and said that her in-laws had beaten her. As Arun was in Punjab, her cousin Rohit went there and asked why they beat her up but they did not say anything. When his sister was not seen, he again asked about her. The in-laws said that she had falledn from the stool and was admitted in the hospital and Rohit returned home.

On Tuesday night, he was informed that her sister’s condition was very serious. He called her brother and on June 4, 2025 morning, he reached her in-laws’ house and found her dead on the bed and her in-laws had fled away. Only her mother-in-law was there. He informed the police and on getting information, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
