Famous Personalities: Bihar Election Results Will Determine the Country’s Direction and Condition
New Delhi (RNI) The Bihar Assembly elections are being closely followed by eminent personalities across various fields, even beyond the state. Many believe that the outcome will play a decisive role in shaping the country’s direction and condition ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
Polling for the 243- member BiharLegislative Assembly will be conducted in two phases on November 6 and 11, while the counting of votes will take place on November 14. The formation of a new government is expected by the end of this month.
Expatriate personalities from Bihar, in a conversation here today, expressed their views on the upcoming elections.
Mr.Kamal Kant Jha, Standing Counsel for the Government of India in the Delhi High Court and a noted advocate, said this election holds great significance for the people of Bihar. He stated that the electorate is likely to choose the NDA once again to maintain the momentum of development.
Mr.Jha added that the people of Bihar have experienced the governance of the Lalu-Rabri era, and since 2005, under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, the NDA government has generally delivered better results.
Mr.Arvind Pathak, a well-known social activist who has led several national-level mass movements, observed that substantial progress has been made during Nitish Kumar’s two terms. “It is true that he succeeded in establishing the rule of law, but his credibility has suffered recently due to overreliance on bureaucracy and certain ineffective leaders,” he said.
Mr.Pathak expressed concern over recent incidents such as the violence in Mokama, the killing of a police officer in Siwan, and clashes during campaigns in Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, and Madhubani. “Such incidents revive unpleasant memories and are not good for democracy,” he remarked.
Mr.Surendra Kumar Tiwari, a prominent social activist from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s home district, who closely follows Bihar politics, commented that the exchange of accusations among political leaders during this election is unfortunate.
He further said that BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s remarks about Khesari Lal were unnecessary and hurtful. “Because of such statements, the NDA, particularly the BJP, is facing resentment in several constituencies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, who are working towards the vision of a developed India, should take note of this,” he added.
Prof. Yogesh Kumar, former professor of physics in Delhi University, emphasized that every election holds importance and that the people of Bihar are politically aware and capable of making informed decisions in their interest.
Educationist and Chancellor Dr. B.N. Mishra concluded that the people of Bihar have always guided the nation in challenging times. “This time too, they have a third option before them,” he said.L.S.
