Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Election atmosphere heated up in Bihar, revealing the secrets

Patna (RNI) As the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections are approaching, the atmosphere is heating up. Leaders have started exposing each other. Many veterans are running between Patna and Delhi to establish their sons and daughters in politics.

The Bihar Legislative Assembly election is scheduled for October–November. In 2020, elections were held in three phases for a total of 243 seats. The first phase was held on 28 October for 71 seats, the second on 3 November for 94 seats, and the third on 7 November for the remaining 78 seats. The counting of votes took place on 10 November.

In that election, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) emerged victorious by securing 125 seats, while the Grand Alliance got 110 seats. Other small parties won 7 seats, while 1 went to an independent candidate. After this, the NDA government was formed under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. Later, due to Nitish Kumar switching sides, the Grand Alliance also came to power for a period.

In the 2020 election, the RJD emerged as the largest party with 75 seats. The BJP got 74, JDU 43, Congress 19, Left parties 15, HAM 4, and VIP 4 seats. The rest were won by others. Some members also defected — all the MLAs of VIP joined the BJP. Today, BJP is the largest party in the Legislative Assembly with 80 seats.

Political parties began their preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections earlier this year. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also addressed several meetings on behalf of the NDA. Large-scale inaugurations and foundation stone-laying ceremonies for schemes have been carried out.

On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, Left leader Dipankar, and VIP’s Mukesh Sahni from the Mahagathbandhan are busy raising the issue of voter amendments as a major political plank.

Election strategist Prashant Kishor’s Jan Swaraj has been continuously engaging with people at their homes for the last two years, raising real issues of the state like corruption, unemployment, and poor law and order. This has made the Bihar election battle triangular, putting both ruling and opposition stalwarts in a difficult position, as leaders are being exposed one after another.

Recently, an election survey has been released. This survey predicts that the NDA government may return to power in the state once again. The survey, conducted by Times Now Navbharat and JVC, estimates that if elections were held now, the NDA could win around 136 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan would secure 75 seats. Others are expected to get 18 seats.

As for Jan Swaraj, the situation suggests that it may either bring a storm similar to AAP’s rise or end up with fewer than 10 seats. Shri Kishor himself acknowledges this possibility.L.S.
