BIHAR ON ALERT REGARDING EBOLA

PATNA---------------------------The Bihar Health Department has gone into alert mode regarding the Ebola virus disease. In view of the potential threat, four beds have been reserved at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). Additionally, the hospital administration has been instructed to keep essential medicines, PPE kits, and isolation facilities fully prepared.

According to Health Department officials, no case of Ebola has been reported in the state so far. However, surveillance has been stepped up as a precautionary measure following the detection of infection cases in some countries internationally. All hospitals have been directed to identify suspected patients and report them immediately.

PMCH Superintendent Dr. Rajiv Kumar Singh stated that, in accordance with government directives, a special four-bed ward has been prepared and kept ready. The number of beds can be increased if necessary. Compliance with all infection control standards is being ensured at the hospital.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Yogendra Prasad Mandal stated that an observation center has been set up at Danapur Sub-divisional Hospital for the monitoring and primary care of potential patients. Suspected patients will be kept in isolation there for testing and monitoring.

The Health Department has initiated preparations to provide special training to doctors and healthcare workers on preventing infection. Simultaneously, the availability of protective equipment and other essential resources is being ensured.

According to experts, Ebola is a serious viral disease that spreads through contact with the blood, sweat, vomit, stool, or other bodily fluids of an infected person. Its key symptoms include high fever, weakness, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, and—in severe cases—bleeding.

The Health Department has appealed to the public not to pay heed to rumors and to contact the nearest health center or hospital immediately if any suspicious symptoms appear. Advice has also been given to practice regular handwashing, maintain hygiene, and avoid direct contact with infected individuals.
