ARA----------------------------An elderly man died of electrocution on Tuesday evening in Kateya village, under the jurisdiction of the Bihiya police station. The incident caused a stir among the locals. The deceased has been identified as 68-year-old Bhagirathi Mahto, son of the late Sitaram Mahto and a resident of Ward No. 4, Kateya village. He was a farmer by profession.

The deceased's son, Akshay Kumar, stated that paddy transplanting work was underway, and his father had gone to deposit seedlings. While attempting to start the water pump (boring), a live electric wire short-circuited, snapped, and fell onto his body, resulting in his death.

When family members arrived at the field later, they found him dead. They subsequently informed the local police. Upon receiving the information, the local police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Ramkesi Devi; three sons—Ravindra Mahto, Yogendra Mahto, and Akshay Kumar; and two daughters—Sunita and Munni Devi. The incident has plunged the family into deep grief; his wife and other family members are inconsolable.
