ARA--------------------------A significant update has emerged regarding the Bharat Tiwari encounter case, which took place in Bilauti village under the Shahpur police station area of Bihar's Bhojpur district. In a major move, the police have arrested Akshay Kumar, an STF jawan directly accused of killing Bharat Tiwari. Demands for an impartial investigation and strict legal action had been intensifying ever since the deceased's mother lodged an FIR against the jawan. With the accused now in custody, the legal proceedings in the case have gained momentum.
Taking the entire incident seriously, the Bihar government has implemented stringent administrative measures. Recently, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary summoned Bharat Tiwari's family members to Patna, met with them, and listened earnestly to their grievances. Following this high-level interaction, the government initiated several major changes with immediate effect. Rajesh Kumar Sharma, who was the SDPO of Jagdishpur at the time of the encounter, was recalled to Police Headquarters from the Prohibition Department. It is noteworthy that his role during the encounter was under a cloud of suspicion, and the family had raised serious questions regarding his conduct.
Sanjeet Kumar, the then SDO of Jagdishpur, has also faced administrative action and has been removed from his post. The government took this stern decision due to his questionable role in the encounter case, aiming to ensure complete transparency in the investigation process.
Meanwhile, reacting to the first arrest, Bharat Tiwari's mother, Asha Devi, expressed relief at Akshay Kumar's arrest. However, she demanded the immediate arrest of other officers and police personnel involved in the conspiracy. She stated unequivocally that strict action—extending up to the death penalty—should be taken against every officer found to be complicit in the matter. She expressed full faith in the government's approach and remains hopeful of securing justice. Meanwhile, the deceased's father, Kashi Tiwari, has also expressed satisfaction with the government's actions. He stated that Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary is fulfilling the promises he made, and every step taken by the government appears to be moving towards justice. He added that the assurance that no guilty party would be spared has further strengthened his confidence that justice will be served.
