District-Level Committee Meeting of the Animal Husbandry Department Held Under the Chairmanship of the District Magistrate
Hardoi (RNI) A district-level committee meeting of the Animal Husbandry Department was held today at Swami Vivekanand Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Anunay Jha. The meeting included a detailed review of the strengthening of destitute cattle shelters in the district, availability of fodder, and development of basic infrastructure.
The District Magistrate directed that gaushalas with a low number of cattle be closed and handed over to Self Help Groups, where activities such as vermicompost production can be undertaken for use in organic farming. He also instructed plantation of fruit-bearing trees in selected gaushalas.
Keeping in view the upcoming season and current requirements, he conducted an in-depth review of the fodder (bhusa) tender process and its progress. He directed that the fodder procurement process be made transparent and time-bound to ensure there is no shortage in storage.
To ensure security and transparency, the District Magistrate instructed that all gaushalas must have functional CCTV cameras. He also emphasized strengthening fencing and boundary walls around cattle shelters to ensure the safety of the cattle.
As part of efforts towards self-reliance, information was sought regarding the status of green fodder production on land attached to gaushalas, and necessary directions were issued to enhance production. Additionally, the physical condition of rooms and sheds within gaushala premises was reviewed, with instructions to promptly repair dilapidated structures.
The meeting also included a detailed discussion on the condition of cattle housed in permanent and temporary shelters as well as registered functional gaushalas operating in rural and urban areas of the district. The District Magistrate directed plantation of Napier grass to ensure continuous availability of green fodder throughout the year.
He emphasized special focus on breed improvement, directing maximum use of sex-sorted semen to increase the birth of female calves and enhance milk production. He further instructed the upgradation of one veterinary hospital in each development block and the establishment of one Nandi Gaushala in every block.
Chief Development Officer Sanya Chhabra, Chief Veterinary Officer Ashok Kumar Singh, and In-charge District Information Officer Divya Nigam were present in the meeting.
