ARA-------------------------The diversion constructed near the bridge currently under construction over the Chher River—located close to Rudranagar village under the Shahpur police station area in Bhojpur district—has once again been restored for traffic. Recently, the diversion had been completely destroyed and washed away due to rising water levels and strong currents in the river, causing immense hardship for local residents and nearby villages. About 12 days after the water level receded, the construction agency accelerated repair work and has now made the route operational again.

This route serves as a lifeline for the region, connecting Banahi Railway Station to three major national highways. Despite its critical importance for transportation, recent events raised serious questions regarding safety standards. The complete submergence of the diversion and the resulting breach in the road severed the connection between dozens of surrounding villages and main thoroughfares, disrupting daily life.

Local residents and public representatives have blamed the bridge construction agency’s poor work practices and inadequate diversion arrangements for this situation. Citizens argue that had appropriate safety measures been taken in time and better drainage arrangements ensured, the region would not have had to face such prolonged isolation. Although traffic movement has been restored, people believe that administrative vigilance is necessary to prevent a recurrence of the situation in the future. The construction agency must ensure that alternative routes remain completely safe during the monsoon or periods of rising water levels.
