Rahul Gandhi Demands PM Modi's Resignation Over CJP Protest Crackdown

New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resignation over the police crackdown on CJP protesters. He accused the Centre of avoiding a discussion on the issue in Parliament and later visited the injured protesters at Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.

His remarks came on the second day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, a day after clashes between Delhi Police and supporters of the CJP during the outfit's "Chalo Sansad" march left several protesters injured. The incident has intensified the political confrontation between the opposition and the government over alleged irregularities in the country's education and examination system.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government was using police force to silence students raising concerns about the education and examination system.

"These young people are protesting against the state of the education and testing system. The entire country knows that the education system and examination system are broken. The testing system has been hollowed out. Students are simply raising these concerns, and we have been saying the same for a long time. I have repeatedly presented these issues. Why is the Prime Minister silent?" Gandhi said.

Rahul Gandhi also alleged that the government was resisting any meaningful discussion on the issue in Parliament. He said students' concerns should be addressed seriously and called for greater transparency and accountability in the examination system. The Centre has not yet issued an official response to his remarks.
