Communication Channels: Correspondence is reportedly conducted through Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, X, LinkedIn, email, telephone calls, and other digital communication platforms.
Certificate Issuance: Following payment, recipients reportedly receive honorary doctorate certificates bearing decorative seals, administrative signatures, and ceremonial documentation.
Public Promotion: Award recipients are reportedly encouraged to publish photographs, videos, and announcements on social media, which may also be used in subsequent promotional campaigns.
Referral Practices: Some recipients are reportedly encouraged to recommend colleagues, professionals, or acquaintances for future honorary recognitions.

Social Worker Shanti Pathak Passes Away

>New Delhi (RNI) eminent social worker Mrs. Shanti Pathak (Moti Devi), and mother of senior journalist Dr. Samrendra Pathak, passed away this morning at the age of 85.

She breathed her last at 7:00 a.m. at her residence in UNI Apartments, Vasundhara, NCR, where she had been residing with her son for several years.

Mrs. Pathak was widely regarded for her simplicity, compassion, and commitment to social values. Her demise marks the end of a graceful and dignified life devoted to family and service.

Her husband, distinguished litterateur Uday Kant Pathak Munna Babu, had predeceased her in 2020.

She is survived by her three sons Amarendra Pathak, Dr. Samrendra Pathak, and Arvind Pathak her daughter, Neelam Jha, and grandsons Mukesh Kumar and Navesh Kumar.

Her mortal remains have been kept at her residence, where family members, friends, and well-wishers are paying their final respects before the last rites.L.S.

Swiggy, Zomato and other gig workers to go on nationwide strike on New Years Eve

New Delhi (RNI) Online food, grocery and quick-commerce services across India are likely to face disruptions on December 31 as gig and delivery workers working with platforms such as Swiggy, Zomato and other app-based services prepare for a nationwide strike. New Years Eve is one of the busiest days of the year for online orders, and the protest could affect last-minute party supplies, food deliveries and everyday shopping in many cities.

The strike has been called by the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union and the Indian Federation of App-Based Transport Workers (IFAT), with support from worker groups in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi-NCR, West Bengal and parts of Tamil Nadu. According to the unions, delivery partners who form the backbone of Indias app-based commerce system are being forced to work longer hours even as their earnings continue to fall.

The unions allege that workers are subjected to unsafe delivery targets, arbitrary account blocking, lack of job security, and very limited access to basic social protection. In a letter sent to Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, IFAT said it represents around 400,000 app-based transport and delivery workers across the country.

The federation also pointed out that workers had already held a nationwide flash strike on December 25, which led to a 50 to 60 percent disruption in services in several cities. That protest was meant to highlight unsafe delivery models, declining incomes, unfair deactivations of worker IDs and the absence of social security. The union claimed that after the December 25 strike, platform companies did not engage in dialogue but instead responded with threats, account deactivations and algorithm-based penalties, and even used third-party agencies to weaken the protest.

With the December 31 strike, customers may face delays, cancellations and reduced availability of delivery partners as many workers log off the apps or sharply cut down their working hours. Major cities such as Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata, along with several tier-2 markets, are expected to be affected.

In its letter, IFAT has urged the government to bring platform companies under labour laws, ban unsafe delivery models such as extreme fast-delivery timelines, and ensure fair and transparent wage systems. It has also demanded social security benefits including health insurance, accident cover and pensions, along with protection of workers right to organise and bargain collectively. The federation has sought immediate government intervention and called for tripartite talks between the government, platform companies and worker unions.

Year after year, appeal of Belur Maths Kumari Puja remains undiminished

Howrah (West Bengal) (RNI) On the auspicious occasion of Maha Ashtami, Belur Math the global headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission once again witnessed the traditional Kumari Puja, where a young girl is worshipped as the embodiment of Goddess Durga. The century-old ritual, initiated by Swami Vivekananda in 1901, continues to draw thousands of devotees with undiminished devotion and fervour.

Rooted in the philosophy of service to God through service to humanity, the Kumari Puja is both a spiritual celebration of womanhood and a reaffirmation of womens dignity. Historical records note that nine girls were worshipped during the first such ritual at Belur Math. Since then, it has become one of the most cherished highlights of Durga Ashtami.

Explaining its essence, Jayita Sarkar, a Kolkata-based teacher of English literature and a follower of Swamijis teachings, said:
The main idea behind Kumari Puja is respect for women-power and women-dignity in society. Inspired by Shri Ramakrishna and blessed by Maa Sarada, Swamiji established this tradition so that people would learn to see divinity in womanhood. For every woman, this occasion is truly special. Each time I attend, I am deeply moved by its spiritual depth.

Echoing the thought, senior Calcutta High Court counsel Sampa Chowdhury added that the ritual reflects Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansas vision of perceiving the Divine Mother in every woman.

This year too, the puja began around 9 a.m. and concluded shortly after 10 a.m., conducted with reverence by the monks of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission. Devotees from across the country and abroad thronged Belur Math to witness the event, which, beyond its ritualistic splendour, also conveys a timeless message of honouring womens rightful place in society.

The days celebrations at Belur Math will culminate with the Sandhi Puja, performed at the sacred juncture of Maha Ashtami and Maha Navami, commemorating Goddess Durgas triumph over the demons Chanda and Munda.

New Delhi (RNI) Durga Puja is one of the most awaited and celebrated Hindu festivals, especially in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Tripura, Bihar, and Jharkhand. It is not just a religious occasion but also a cultural extravaganza marked by artistic pandals, traditional dance, dhak beats and the devotion of millions of devotees.

In 2025, Durga Puja will begin on Saturday, September 27, and end on Thursday, October 2 with Vijayadashami and Durga Visarjan. The five main days of the puja Shashthi, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Dashami will be celebrated with grandeur, each carrying its own rituals and spiritual significance.

Thus, Durga Puja 2025 will be a six-day celebration starting with Panchami and concluding with the grand immersion of Goddess Durga idols on Vijayadashami.

Durga Puja celebrations begin with Mahalaya, which marks the end of Pitru Paksha (a fortnight dedicated to ancestors) and the beginning of Devi Paksha (the fortnight of the Goddess). In 2025, Mahalaya will be observed on 21 September, just before the main puja days.

Mahalaya also symbolises the descent of Goddess Durga to Earth. The day is marked with recitation of Chandi Path, devotional songs and early morning prayers, filling the atmosphere with a sense of divine anticipation.

Panchami Bilva Nimantran
The puja begins with Bilva Nimantran, where Goddess Durga is invited to Earth with rituals.

Shashthi Kalparambha and Akal Bodhon
The Kalparambha ritual is performed, followed by Akal Bodhon, which symbolises the invocation of the Goddess. This day also includes Amantran and Adhivas.

Saptami Kolabou Puja
On this day, a small banana plant known as Kolabou is bathed and draped in a saree, symbolising the consort of Lord Ganesha. This is considered one of the most sacred parts of Durga Puja.

Ashtami Kumari Puja and Sandhi Puja
Maha Ashtami is considered the most auspicious day of Durga Puja. Devotees perform Kumari Puja, worshipping young girls as an embodiment of the Goddess, and Sandhi Puja, which is held at the juncture of Ashtami and Navami.

Navami Maha Navami and Homa
On Maha Navami, the final day of Durgas battle against Mahishasura is commemorated. Navami Homa (sacred fire ritual) and Durga Balidan are performed with great devotion.

Dashami Vijayadashami and Visarjan
On the last day, Sindoor Utsav (where married women smear vermillion on each other) takes place, followed by Durga Visarjan (immersion of Durga idols) in rivers and ponds. This marks the departure of the Goddess back to her heavenly abode.

In 2025, Goddess Durga will arrive on an elephant, which is considered highly auspicious as it symbolises prosperity and a good harvest. She will depart on Nara (man), which signifies struggles and challenges ahead but also human strength to overcome them. These omens are taken as indicators of the year to come.

Durga Puja celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon king Mahishasura. It symbolises the triumph of good over evil and the power of the feminine divine. Beyond religious devotion, Durga Puja is a festival of art, culture, community bonding, food, and joy.

Durga Puja 2025 will be celebrated from September 27 to October 2, filling six days with devotion, rituals, music, dance, and cultural festivities. From Mahalaya to Vijayadashami, every ritual carries deep spiritual significance, making the festival a blend of tradition and celebration. New Delhi (RNI) The Lok Samaj Party (LSP) Advocate Cell staged a demonstration today demanding an end to the collegium system and the introduction of a written examination for the appointment of High Court judges.

The protest was led by party president and advocate Gauri Shankar Sharma. Many senior leaders, including party general secretary Bachan Singh Katotia, Ram Gopal, Viliyam paulp and kanata Rani were also present on the occasion.

The demonstrators gathered at Jantar Mantar at 2 p.m. and raised strong slogans in support of their demand. Mr. Sharma said that it is very unfortunate that no written examination is conducted for the appointment of High Court judges, due to which many deserving candidates are deprived of reaching such positions.

He further stated that the party has been consistently raising its voice on this issue, which is directly related to providing justice to talented but underprivileged students. Mr. Sharma urged the government to implement this system at the earliest.L.S.
